The Chilton Club reopened its doors in 2020 under 1 Oak ownership. The Chilton Club has always been the “heart of the town” for the local elderly community, and we’re thrilled to continue this into 2025.
While the club operates much as it did before, we’ve made thoughtful adjustments to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all members. In addition to popular activities like gardening, crafts, and bingo, the Chilton Club remains a place where people can gather, reminisce, and connect, which is particularly beneficial for those living with dementia.
The Chilton Club offers a secure, engaging, and enjoyable setting for those with memory challenges, providing a place for members to take part in daily activities at their own pace. Whether they wish to engage in crafts, socialise, or simply relax, members can enjoy making new friends, participating in stimulating events, and enjoying a freshly prepared meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
If you or a loved one would benefit from attending the Chilton Club, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with our welcoming team today to learn more about joining us.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dementia day centres provide a safe, structured environment where members receive cognitive stimulation, social interaction and personal care. For family carers, Day centres like 1 Oak offer essential respite to rest, work, or run errands while delaying the need for full-time residential care.
Daycentres are generally open daytime hours whereas a residential care home will be a permanent residence that provide around the clock support.
Daycentres can be a great middle ground between needing support at home and needing full time support in a care home environment.
This is something you would need to discuss with your social worker (if you have one) or with Customer First at Suffolk County Council.
We are an accredited Daycentre with the local authority.
Contact them on 0800 917 1109 to discuss your requirements and check eligibility.
The Chilton Club is located on Chilton Industrial Estate on Martins Road. Current neighbours are Toolstation and Paint Wells.
As you drive into Martins Road you will see our building on the right, you can go around the back of the building and park in our rear car park.
If you need transport to get to the Chilton Club, we recommend contacting Go Start Sudbury
You will need to book in advance, this is so that we can ensure we are safely staffed, food is prepared and there is a spare seat in the house!
We are often at capacity, but don't worry - we can keep you information on file for when a space becomes available.
Yes! We work alongside Go Start Sudbury who collect everyone in the mornings and take everyone home in the afternoons. We will discuss this when you become a member and liaise directly with them for you.
They are a fantastic charity who will be more than happy to help you on other occasions too. If you want more information on what they do, you can look on their website here
Yes! We provide breakfast on arrival, usually tea and toast with a selection of jams. We then provide a hot meal at lunch time along with a dessert, the chef will come and speak to everyone each day to make sure that we get lunches just as you like.
There are also refreshments throughout the day, including tea, coffee, squash and biscuits.
Most of the activities are based on the time of year, maybe Eileen will get some flowers planted with members, maybe Rachel will help get some art projects on the go, Terina may well be painting nails, you might find Linda in the corner playing cards and you often find that the whiteboard is out and we are taking scores of different games being played.
On one occasion the TV came out, that was when we opened especially to watch Queen Elizabeth's funeral with members who would otherwise be home alone.
If there is an activity you particularly enjoy, let us know and we can get some supplies in!
You can arrive any time from 9am in the morning.
We close at 3pm.
Go Start Transport may arrive shortly before this to allow for two trips or family can collect anytime before 3pm.
